We’re less than two weeks away from DataWorks Summit Berlin (April 16-19)! We have a number of impressive keynote and breakout speakers lined up. These speakers include Ian Pillay and Bradley Smith from Standard Bank, and Jeroen Wolffensperger and Martijn Groen from Rabobank.

Standard Bank

Standard Bank South Africa is one of South Africa’s largest financial services groups, operating in 20 countries across Africa and other key markets around the world. It is Africa’s biggest lender by assets, offering a range of banking and related financial services.

Ian Pillay and Bradley Smith will be speaking in the Governance and Security track about securing and governing a multi-tenant data lake within the financial industry, utilizing both Hortonworks Data Platform (HDP) and Hortonworks Data Flow (HDF).

Rabobank is a Dutch multinational banking and financial services company headquartered in the Netherlands. It is a global leader in food and agriculture financing and sustainability-oriented banking. Rabobank is the second-largest bank in the Netherlands in terms of total assets. Rabobank Group operates through Rabobank and its subsidiaries in 40 countries, serving approximately 8.7 million clients around the world.

Jeroen Wolffensperger and Martijn Groen will be speaking in the Enterprise Adoption track about their recently launched service that gives insight in market performance customers, starting with the dairy farmers market segment, by making use of benchmark information. This vision started as an experiment and has now moved to a real production environment. The group’s real-time data stream is implemented by making use of Kafka and Nifi from HDF.

When asked what they’re most looking forward to about DataWorks Summit Berlin, here’s what they had to say:

“We are looking forward to meeting our peers and learning more about their experiences and successes. We also love to share our stories and the choices we made. Everybody has a lot to learn so collaboration is a key to success. We expect two days full of networking, knowledge sharing and inspiration. Like last year this should give us a boost in our journey to deliver data driven solutions.” – Martijn Groen and Jeroen Wolffensperger, Rabobank

“DataWorks Summit provides a global opportunity enabling people to share their knowledge and experiences to better the open source community, a philosophy South Africans call ‘ubuntu.’ We’re excited to collaborate with big data experts, thought leaders and influencers from around the world.” -Bradley Smith and Ian Pillay, Standard Bank South Africa
